Tamara Platonovna Karsavina was a Russian prima ballerina and a reigning goddess of the Imperial Russian Ballet and later of the Ballets Russes of Serge Diaghilev. During her long career she danced the leading part in the most significant opera plays of that period. Ballerinas were usually considered to be merely decorative but the Russian intelligentsia embraced Tamara. Her beauty, technical perfection and intelligence enchanted and inspired choreographers, composers and designers worldwide .The style of her movements was unique, a sublime combination of purity and elegance just like the egg pendants dedicated to her in this collection. The designs, in gold plated 925 silver sterling and the striking enamelled colourings, feature a spray of wild flowers with petals of tinted violet, blue, rose and green arranged around shimmering zircon centres which adds a fresh and young touch to the collection.
